Until recently, it had been a long time since we could play the famous Crytek Franchise, Crysis, without wiping the dust of our PS3 or Xbox 360. Of course, a remill has been published for the first game, but Fans can now play all the trilogy on their new favorite platform! As a long-standing fan of the main trilogy, it was a dream come true. As Crysis was ahead of his time when he was exit, I was curious to know how much the Crysis Remastered trilogy compares to the latest a decade games later. Is it still so good? Let s find out.
For all those who do not know Crysis (or in case someone would need a reminder), it s a science fiction shooting game that follows a soldier and his team who They are dropped in Northern Korea 2020 equipped with a nanosits that offers superhuman and strength capacities. This group of soldiers tries to finish a rescue mission, but is quickly faced with an extraterrestrial force that tries to invade the world called the CEPH, as well as the military ladle Cell without spoiling much, there is a series of rather unhappy events and things are just not going in your way. You will have to face the CEPH and the Cell again in the next two titles, this time in New York. There are many complexities throughout the plot of the franchise, but in simple terms, after successfully eliminating the CEPH in Crysis 2, Prophet seeks to take revenge - to eliminate the Leader of Ceph - in the final of series.
The gameplay differs between each game and improves as the series advance. Although Crysis 2 and 3 have a more linear gameplay, both have significant improvements over Crysis and are globally more enjoyable. One of the main reasons is that even if the original title throws solid foundations for the next two games of the main trilogy, it seems a little too basic, a little too simple, all these years later. Do not get me wrong, Crysis is always a good time. It s always fun. And it s a good introduction to a big franchise. The gameplay is simply not as fluid as the last two games in the main series.
Crysis relies on the stealthy option of nanosuit; The armor is not at all a realistic choice, despite the freedom and the environment of open sand bin that places its players in a box in a strategic way. Crysis 2 and 3 offer indispensable Nanosuit upgrades and additional customizable options adapted to different environments, offering more strategic options and creating more Badass opportunities to eliminate enemies. Even the nanovision is more sophisticated in Crysis 2 and 3, with thermal technology instead of night vision. And the Nanosuit visor offers recognition capabilities to mark enemies and areas of interest. All these improvements allow a more fun and fluid gameplay.
And then there is the increasing list of available weapons as the series unfolds. The original presents your typical list of firearms - hunting rifles, SMG, assault rifles - and some grenades. Crysis 2 adds different types of weapons, then Crysis 3 relies on this by adding more CEPH weapons and the iconic predator bow.
What is interesting is that for a series that relies heavily on the shooting capacities, the manipulation of weapons is not excellent in the original Crysis game. It s clearly worse than the next two games. The gun movement, the speed of ADS and the aiming assistance seems to be slow and disgusted. Trying to shoot enemies should not be frustrating, but it s quite often here. Fortunately, these problems are almost non-existent in Crysis 2 and 3. The manipulation and sight of the pistol are fast and fluid, especially with high sensitivity.
There are some small bugs and problems everywhere, like enemies stuck halfway in trees or vehicles, and the IA is not always coherent. Sometimes the enemies simply do not see you while they should probably do it and other times, they run away in a direction that makes no sense. Then, when you swear you have been superfly and remained out of their radar, they pull you on. Most of the time, it s okay, but there are times that will leave you perplexed - and it s at all levels of difficulty. There is also a certain screen gel that occurs when backups of checkpoints. But at least on the Xbox One, the frequency of images remains constant at 30 fps throughout the 3 campaigns.
The lack of multiplayer is disappointing but not prejudicial. Can you imagine the pleasure we could have with the Nanosuit and Futurist weapons now? This would probably look like a mix between Halo and Call of Duty. Sign me up. It may be something that Saber Interactive and Crytek can consider adding to this remastered trilogy in the future. Anyway, there is still a ton of hours passing here, about 10-15 per game. Even more if you want to take your time to find all collectibles and win all the distinctions.
The start of the Crysis series was as if I had crossed a temporal chain and, curiously, I was not going back in time. Despite a feeling of overwhelming nostalgia, I did not feel that the graphics had trouble compensating for the temporal offset. And it s really a huge accomplishment for Crytek and Interactive Saber. Yes, it s a remill, but Wow are the graphics substantially improved here. And of course, it sounds as well as ever.
The graphics are improving as the series advance, but the original game is also very beautiful. The biggest differences between games reside in facial animations and close-ups. Crysis is simply not so fluid. Crysis 2 is better than the original and Crysis 3 sees even more improvement. Nevertheless, each of the games of this remastered trilogy has a new graphic prowess improved compared to the initial release of the Games. All, vehicle buildings, passing through your own Nanosuit, is more detailed. Trees and bushes are more textured, and vegetation and environments are more realistic. And that s not all. Character models, shadows, weather and lighting effects are also visibly better.
Even without multiplayer component here, it is difficult to reject the value of the Crysis remastered trilogy. For those who have already played these games, there is nothing new and spectacular that will expand you. But if you want to start again, this time with better and more refined graphics, you will not regret it. It may not be as good as New Age titles, but it s certainly no longer the past. Now, for all those who have not played this franchise, it really looks like obvious. Get the Crysis Remastered trilogy for only $ 49.99 and you will spend a fantastic moment!
