A few days ago, the asymmetrical horror title Evil Dead the Game was released. With its principle, the game is quite reminiscent of the rather popular Dead by Daylight. A group of survivors must try not to be dismembered by the killer and to do various tasks. In contrast to Dead by Daylight, however, much more action takes place in Evil Dead. The killer can conjure up and set traps of various undead, whereas the survivors can defend themselves with an arsenal of weapons. The aim of the game is to simply escape, but to make the killer vulnerable by collecting specific objects, and then banish it forever.
Evil Dead the Game becomes a real surprise hit
Asymmetrical multiplayer titles are generally quite popular. Bandai-Namco recently announced an anime-dead-by-daylight because they would probably like to have something from the success of the genre. Among other things, the surprising sales of Evil Dead the Game (buy now) show that this idea is not that bad. As part of a new presentation of the Embracer Group, the CEO of Sabre Interactive, Matthew Karch, said that Evil Dead the Game was able to sell much more than her previous project, World was Z.
The title was able to sell over 500,000 units within just five days, and Karch also emphasized the current success of the game on Metacritic. For publication, Evil Dead the Game probably received "15-17 points" than Dead by Daylight. The game is currently only available in the Epic Games Store, but this could not really slow down its success.
Karch himself described Evil Dead the Game as the "first title in a new franchise," which could mean that there will be a kind of sequel or a spin-off in the future. At least if the title continues to run as well as before. As Gamesindry.biz reports, Evil Dead the Game also secured fifth place in the Boxed Charts of the United Kingdom and thus overtook titles like Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
In any case, it will be exciting what the future will bring for Evil Dead the Game. Due to the current success of the title, we can probably count on some new updates for the game, possibly new killers and survivors. Maybe there will also be a similar spin-off as Dead by Daylight.
